Now that Princess Eugenie has announced her new pregnancy, there have been questions about how this new baby changes the narrative around the royal, particularly considering the scandal surrounding both her parents. Eugenie and her sister Beatrice have not been accused of any wrongdoing, but their father, Andrew, was arrested for suspicion of misconduct in public office due to his Epstein ties, and their mother, Sarah Ferguson, also features heavily in the Epstein files.

Well, Eugenie’s announcement and the subsequent palace response seem to be a clear message of where her priorities lie going forward and how she wants the public to perceive her. Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, announced they are expecting their third baby via an Instagram post.

The post was captioned: “Baby Brooksbank due 2026!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️👶🏻♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️,”

It is, however, the statement from Buckingham Palace that feels noteworthy. It read, “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer.”

“August (aged 5) and Ernest (aged 2) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family,” the statement continued. “His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.”

Back in 2024, when Beatrice announced her second pregnancy, the statement read, “His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.” In 2023, when Eugenie announced her second pregnancy, there was also a mention about how “the family are delighted.” Now, there’s no mention of Eugenie’s extended family, just a subtle but clear message about their connection to the King and no one else.

Eugenie has been facing pressure to publicly denounce her parents, just as King Charles has been facing similar demands to keep his nieces away from public appearances. The two walked with the family at Christmas in Sandringham, but did not attend the recent Easter service with the rest of the family. And some experts say the sisters should not be let off the hook.

Royal expert Andrew Lownie told the BBC in February, per Newsweek, “They weren’t five-year-old girls when they were taken to see Epstein. They were grown-ups. There’s a big campaign to say they are innocents caught up in the shellfire, but they’re not, they’re deeply involved.”

However, Eugenie is reportedly taking a firmer stance with her father, Andrew, than her sister Beatrice. The Daily Mail recently reported that Eugenie has “cut off” her father and is “refusing to speak to Andrew and did not visit him at Christmas,” with another source adding, “There is no contact at all, nothing. It’s Brooklyn Beckham level – she has completely cut him off.”

As for Beatrice, reportedly, she “is trying to walk the fine line of not cutting her father off and yet remaining close with the Royal Family. They aren’t exactly in regular and close contact at the moment, but Eugenie isn’t trying to walk that line. She’s not speaking to him.”
