Jeff Bezos’ problems aren’t like everyone else’s. The Amazon founder, who was just one of the sponsors of the Met Gala and attended the event alongside his new wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, is reportedly making a big change. He’s selling his yacht. That’s right, Bezos is quietly trying to sell his $500 million boat, the Koru. And the reason is kind of funny.

According to reports, Bezos is selling the yacht because it’s just too big to manage, costing about $30 million per year to operate. Talk about first-world problems. The vessel also comes with a $75 million support ship, Abeona. There’s no confirmation if that’s also being sold, or if Bezos plans to keep the Abeona and sell only the Koru.

Of course, there aren’t that many people who can even buy the 417-foot yacht, one of the largest sailing yachts in the world. In fact, the list is probably very small. And let’s not forget the vessel features a wooden sculpture of Bezos’ wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, as a mermaid on the prow. Probably not something most people would want to keep.

The yacht’s size has caused problems before, as it has been unable to dock at various points due to how big it is, according to Page Six. This happened at Bezos’ wedding in Venice, and while the couple was on holiday later in the year. But the two have continued to use the yacht nonetheless, at least until now. It’s unclear whether Bezos will find a buyer for the vessel.

All of this comes after reports that the first months of marriage for the couple have been an adjustment for the billionaire. “Lauren’s energy is non-stop,” a source told Rob Shuter, who reported on their holiday getaway and their very different energy levels at the time. “She was jumping, dancing, laughing — and Jeff was hanging on for dear life. He looked wiped.”

“He’s happy, but he’s clearly worn out trying to match her,” another source said. And the two have been very public since their marriage, attending the Vanity Fair Oscars after party and now being heavily involved in the Met Gala planning.

Bezos and Sánchez were last seen together at the Met Gala, where the Amazon founder did not walk the red carpet but met up inside the event with his wife, who did make an appearance at the Met Gala steps. And Rob Shuter reported that Bezos had spent at least $15 million as a sponsor of the gala. Quite a number, especially considering some reports indicate Anna Wintour wasn’t happy with the negative publicity that came with the involvement of Bezos.

“Jeff was supposed to be the bankroll, not the headline,” a source told the journalist, explaining, “Anna wanted his money. What she did not want was Jeff Bezos becoming the villain of the night before the first flashbulb even pops.”
