Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt’s highly publicized split is sparking interest in the British model’s past relationships, specifically her short-lived romance with actor Ryan Phillippe.

Hewitt dated Phillippe from April to July 2017. At the time, she was 21, while he was 43. In September of that year, Hewitt filed a civil lawsuit against Phillippe, alleging domestic violence.

According to court documents obtained by People, Hewitt claimed that on July 3, 2017, Phillippe left a party early because he felt he was “being ignored” by her. Hewitt alleged that in the early hours of July 4, she and a friend headed to Phillippe’s house to pack her things. Eventually, things turned physical, with the Cruel Intentions star allegedly “kicking, punching and throwing [Hewitt] down the stairs.”

Hewitt even provided several photographs of bruising and injuries she allegedly sustained from the incident. She eventually checked into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and allegedly “suffered chest wall pain, abrasions and severe bruising.”

A spokesperson for the LAPD confirmed to People that police responded to the alleged altercation, made a report, and issued Hewitt an emergency protective order. It expired on July 12.

In the suit, Hewitt alleged that Phillippe—who was married to Reese Witherspoon from 1999 to 2007— frequently abused “a panoply of legal and illegal drugs,” often alongside alcohol, and “exhibited symptoms attendant of poly drug and alcohol abuse, including mood swings and bouts of anger.”

A source close to the actor claimed Hewitt was intoxicated that night, telling People she “showed up to Ryan’s house uninvited and under the influence a few days after he had broken up with her” and “physically attacked” him.”

She “caused a scene and refused to leave his home,” the source added. “As she was removed from the premises, she claims she fell and injured herself.”

Phillippe’s rep also denied the allegations, and the actor himself took to X to say he was “sickened” by the case.

“I am saddened and disgusted by the false allegations being circulated about me,” he wrote. “At the time these allegations were initially made, I fully cooperated with law enforcement, and a thorough investigation was conducted.”

The actor continued, “As a man, raised by women, in a household where women’s rights, feminism, and advocacy were very much at the forefront, I am sickened that my name can be found in any article where domestic violence of any kind is being alleged.”

“Domestic violence is a very real and tragic issue faced by many women the world over and should never be used to vengefully slander or as a ploy for monetary gain,” he concluded. “Every one of my accuser’s allegations are false.”

Just days before the trial was set to begin on Oct. 15, 2019, Hewitt and Phillippe finalized a settlement. It was officially settled in January 2020.

This resurfaced amid reports that Hewitt is threatening to take Davidson to court over child support and custody of their daughter, Scottie Rose. “He may want to keep things quiet, but [Elsie] has no problem blowing things up and bringing this to court,” a source told the U.S. Sun in May 2026.

Hewitt has accused the Saturday Night Live alum of failing to help her with co-parenting duties, further claiming that he’s not providing financial support either. In a May 16 TikTok video, she said she’s raising Scottie Rose “on my own, which is hard.”

A source close to Davidson has since denied Hewitt’s claims, telling Us Weekly that the comedian is “very present” and “fully financially supporting the child and Elsie.”

“He wants nothing but the best for Elsie and he shoulders all of the financial costs, including the costs for Elsie, her rent and her health insurance,” the source added. “Elsie’s posts caught everyone around them off guard because they are simply not true.”
