Nicole Kidman Reportedly Not Interested in ‘Playing Nice’ with Hugh Jackman & Sutton Foster as She’s ‘Firmly’ on His Ex-Wife’s Side
Most people often turn to close friends for support after a breakup, and that appears to be the case for Nicole Kidman and Deborra-Lee Furness. The longtime friends have both recently experienced heartbreak—Deb’s divorce from Hugh Jackman and Kidman’s split from Keith Urban.
And now, with Jackman parading around Hollywood with his new girlfriend, actress Sutton Foster, Kidman is reportedly making it clear where she stands in the situation. In May 2026, an insider told Woman’s Day that Kidman’s “loyalty has to be with Deb as she’s been a shoulder for her many times throughout the past three years.”
Kidman is also seemingly prepared to help Deb “live her best life going forward” and achieve a “post-divorce glow-up.” She’s even hoping her newly single, easygoing attitude will rub off and help the 70-year-old actress feel more confident in this next chapter of her life.
“There’s no doubt Nicole took complete control of her divorce and came out of it triumphantly,” the source said. “She can’t bear to see her dear friend suffer any more than she has to, and she’s doing everything she can to get Deb back in charge.”
The source also alleged that Kidman will be by Deb’s side when she decides to reenter the dating scene. “They’re leaning on each other and with Nicole already booting up her dating life, it’s hard for Deb to not feel encouraged,” the insider revealed. The insider noted that Deb is “still nervous” about dating again, but “Nicole’s one of the key friends in her life helping her take that step.”
Despite her focus being on supporting Deb, sources claim the Oscar-winning actress also hopes she and Jackman can mend their friendship.
“She’s not ready to start playing nice with Hugh’s new girlfriend. Not yet anyway. It’s still too raw and way too soon,” another insider explained. “But she is hoping that things between Deb and Hugh will settle down over time and she doesn’t have to exclude him from her world for too long.”
They continued, “Hugh’s one of her favourite co-stars and was always so loyal to her and Keith, but until the situation’s more comfortable with Deb, Nicole’s staying away from Hugh and Sutton and any weddings they’re planning.”
