Ever since Prince Harry and King Charles reunited for the first time in years in September 2025, people have been eagerly anticipating their next meeting. As Charles headed to the US for a state visit, people wondered if that would be it. But the two didn’t meet. And now there have been rumors that Harry could be headed to Sandringham with his kids, whom the king hasn’t seen in years.
But will it happen? According to the Daily Mirror, a new meeting is practically “impossible,” because “trust is gone.”

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe said: “Charles is in an impossible position right now. He and Prince William can’t reach out to Harry for fear of him then publicizing it. That’s the big blockage,” adding, “If they were to resume contact, they run the risk that Harry and Meghan could disclose more personal details and drop more bombshells about what’s happening.
“This is where the fear lies for the Royal Family,” Larcombe added.
And that’s not all, as he also said, “If Charles rang Harry and said ‘I’m coming to the U.S., I’d love to see you,’ the danger is Harry would go public with it. That breakdown in trust is the most significant thing.”
The biggest issue? The royal family is still upset about the interview Harry and Meghan had with Oprah in 2021, as well as Harry’s memoir, Spare. During the interview, the pair alleged there were instances of racism and a lack of support for Markle within the royal family.
Of course, at this point, everything each side says is taken as a slight. For example, during Harry’s visit to Australia last month, he described children as an “upgrade” on their parents as he reflected on fatherhood. It seemed to be a very nice moment of him thinking about how much he’s learned since having kids, but it was taken as a veiled criticism of his father. “
“There is a growing view among royal watchers that Harry’s ‘upgrade’ comment wasn’t accidental, and was, in fact, a rather brutal dig at his father,” one insider told RadarOnline. “He is being seen as suggesting that children should surpass their parents emotionally and morally while discussing his trauma over being a parent – and that inevitably invites comparisons with King Charles.”
A second insider added, “Given the history, people are reading this as a brutal dig. The implication being that Harry sees himself as breaking away from a flawed parental model, and that touches directly on Charles and his extremely turbulent relationship with Harry’s mother, Diana.”
Harry also spoke about wanting to be better for his kids while in Australia, saying, “Certainly from a therapy standpoint, you want to be the best version of yourself for your kids. And I knew that I had stuff from the past that I needed to deal with and therefore, prepare myself to basically cleanse myself of the past.”
Dig at his father or an honest desire to be better? People will interpret it the way they want to, and it might end up affecting any possible reconciliation.
