The thing with the former prince Andrew is that it doesn’t look like his situation will get better anytime soon. He’s already featured heavily in what we’ve seen of the Epstein files, and there is still a lot of information there to divulge. Plus, we were arrested for suspicion of misconduct in public office and is currently under investigation. And there are reports that his daughters are trying to distance themselves from him.

So what’s next? Well, Rob Shuter is saying that perhaps a swift escape. The Hollywood insider is reporting that even though Andrew has reached out to members of King Charles’ inner circle to reassure them that he has no plans to flee the country, people don’t exactly believe him.

Why? Well, because the messages aren’t going directly to Charles. And also, because… history is not on his side..

“Andrew has been communicating through the King’s people — not with Charles personally,” one palace insider revealed. “There’s no direct contact there anymore.”

Not that Andrew hasn’t tried. In fact, sources tell Shuter that there’s just no trust there anymore. “Andrew keeps insisting he has nothing to hide and nowhere to run,” the insider added. “But after years of scandals, almost nobody is willing to simply take him at his word.”

So far, Andrew has reportedly not been asked to hand over his passport, so he could still travel if he wanted to. But there has been pressure behind the scenes in the investigation, as some consider him a flight risk due to his connections outside of the UK and the fact that he has the means to leave.

“Technically, nothing is stopping him from getting on a plane tomorrow,” a source said. “And that’s exactly what worries the palace.”

After all, the optics of Andrew running away from an investigation are less than great, to say the least. And Charles is reportedly very aware of not just that, but of the damage his brother could still cause to the monarchy. Which is why he’s keeping his distance.

“This stopped being about family loyalty a long time ago,” another source explains. “For Charles, it’s now about protecting the Crown.” And if that means cutting off his brother, so be it.

“People aren’t listening to Andrew’s promises anymore,” one insider added. “They’re watching his every move.”

This comes months after reports that the two have not spoken in months, because Charles feared a meeting could bring too much media attention.

“The King understands better than anyone how quickly even the smallest gesture can be magnified when it involves the royal family. If he were seen visiting Andrew – even privately – it would immediately become the dominant headline and reignite the entire controversy,” a royal source told RadarOnline.

“In the current climate, any face-to-face meeting would almost certainly be interpreted by the public as a show of solidarity, whether that was the intention or not.” Which is why they won’t happen. “In the current climate, any face-to-face meeting would almost certainly be interpreted by the public as a show of solidarity, whether that was the intention or not.”
