It’s been days since Princess Eugenie surprised everyone with the announcement that she was expecting another baby.  Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, shared the news with an Instagram post featuring their sons, August (aged 5), and Ernest (aged 2), holding a sonogram. “Baby Brooksbank due 2026!” she wrote.

Now, amid the good news for the couple, there are questions about how involved Andrew and Sarah Ferguson will be with their daughter’s pregnancy. Especially considering RadarOnline is reporting that Eugenie didn’t even inform Andrew of the pregnancy herself.

“Andrew found out that he was to be a grandpa again via Sarah,” a source told the Daily Mail, with the outlet reporting that Eugenie hasn’t talked to his father since he was stripped of his titles in October 2025. Her mother, Sarah Ferguson, has been in hiding since about the same time, but she and Eugenie are reportedly still in communication.

“Sarah is in hiding, so it wouldn’t have been appropriate for her to talk about the expected baby publicly,” a friend of Ferguson said. “But of course, she was one of the first to hear the news, directly from Eugenie. They spoke at length. This is what mothers and daughters do.”

Reportedly, the news is very different when it comes to Andrew. And the signs were there ever since the statement from Buckingham Palace about Eugenie’s pregnancy was released. “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer,” the statement read.

“August (aged 5) and Ernest (aged 2) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family,” the statement continued. “His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.” There was no mention of her mother and father.

Sources also spoke about the relationship between Andrew and his daughter, saying that “It’s difficult to know how he will be feeling about it.”

“He was never a hands-on father, was away a lot and took little interest in their private lives,” the source added. “He only took a real interest in Eugenie’s wedding when he wanted to take center stage, demanding it be as grand as Harry and Meghan’s six months earlier. He harangued broadcasters until one of them agreed to televise it.”

All those things considered, it’s not surprising that Eugenie felt no need to reach out to him directly.  Particularly after recent reports have indicated she’s doing her best to separate herself from her father Andrew. The Daily Mail recently reported that Eugenie has “cut off” her father and is “refusing to speak to Andrew and did not visit him at Christmas,” with another source adding, “There is no contact at all, nothing. It’s Brooklyn Beckham level – she has completely cut him off.”

Beatrice, on the other hand, “is trying to walk the fine line of not cutting her father off and yet remaining close with the Royal Family. They aren’t exactly in regular and close contact at the moment, but Eugenie isn’t trying to walk that line. She’s not speaking to him.”

Not even to share happy news.
