It’s been over three months since Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy, was taken from her house. In that time, we’ve gotten a lot of speculation and very few leads. All we know is she was forcibly taken sometime between the night of January 31 and February 1 by a masked assailant and that her family received multiple ransom notes, but no proof of life.

However, one FBI profiler believes she was taken alive from her house. Jim Clemente told Fox News that his conclusion from the blood spatter on her porch is that she was taken alive. “We also know at least that she was alive at that time,” he said, indicating he believed only one person kidnapped her.

Police found droplets of blood near Nancy Guthrie’s front door and a trail of blood leading to the driveway. “She must have aspirated and then coughed up blood with her face very close to the ground, and I don’t believe that would have happened had two people been carrying her at that point,” he said.

Clemente also believes the kidnapper wasn’t someone with a lot of experience. “He is not a sophisticated offender. He was sort of bumbling his way through this, and he made other mistakes, and I believe those mistakes will directly lead to his capture.”

From the blood spatter, his conclusion is: “I believe that what it means is he threatened her with his gun when he was at her bedside. He got her to come down, and at the front door is where she realized he’s going to take me and this is very dangerous and I should fight, and she did.”

Clemente is not the only one who has said that someone close to the kidnapper might be the best way to find out what happened. The Guthrie family has repeatedly made pleas on social media asking everyone who might have seen something to please get in contact.

“Because of all the mistakes this guy made, because of his ineptness and non-professional behavior in this, I believe that he exhibited a great degree of stress when the images were first released,” he said. “Anybody around him should have noticed that change in behavior and potentially be able to identify him because of that.”

All of this comes as Savannah Guthrie paid tribute to her mom on Mother’s Day, sharing several videos of Nancy with her and other members of the family. “Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie – we miss you with every breath,” she wrote. “We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.”

“We need help. Someone knows something that can make the difference. Call 1800CALLFBI. You can be anonymous and the reward remains available,” she added. “Please keep praying. Bring her home.”

Police have yet to identify a suspect or disclose a motive for Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping. The reward for information about Nancy’s alleged kidnapping is over $1 million at this point.
