Former Prince Andrew is reportedly fearing for his safety after being approached by a masked man near his home in Norfolk, England.
Fox News Digital revealed in a May 11 report that Norfolk Police turned up to the scene after being alerter of a man who was “behaving in an intimidating manner in the village,” and later arrested him on “suspicion of a public order offense and possession of an offensive weapon.”
Officials told the outlet that the man, Alex Jenkinson, was “charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior to harass someone or cause alarm or distress and failing to provide a specimen of blood in custody.”
They added that Jenkinson, 39, was also accused of confronting Andrew “while wearing a mask and shouting abuse at the former prince while he was walking his dogs near his home in the area.”
RadarOnline learned that authorities weren’t treating the incident as “terrorism-related,” though Andrew reportedly remains shaken by the encounter.
“Andrew was extremely disturbed by what happened,” an insider said. “The man was reportedly screaming while running directly toward him, and there was genuine concern about what his intentions were.”
Another source claimed that the situation has “heightened” the former Duke of York’s anxiety over his current security detail, noting that there’s “now real nervousness around Andrew’s vulnerability. He no longer has the same security apparatus that once surrounded him, and incidents like this inevitably intensify fears about his safety.”
“He is genuinely quaking with fear; he may be a sitting duck for assassination,” they added.
Many royal experts, including Hilary Fordwich, weren’t surprised that something like this happened to the disgraced ex-British royal. Fordwich told Fox News Digital that “this is totally to be expected because the public is absolutely disgusted regarding his despicable behavior.”
She also pushed back on claims that Andrew should have additional security around him, stating that “he should really stay in sort of a house arrest just keep to himself and not even go out. Then he wouldn’t have to face the public or have these worries. That would be the decent thing to do, but he’s not renowned for doing decent things.”
The BBC Jenkinson pleaded not guilty to the charges while in court on Friday, May 8. He was released on conditional bail, with those conditions stating that he’s not allowed to be near any royal residences.
“He was ordered not to enter the county of Norfolk, not to contact directly or indirectly Mountbatten-Windsor, not to approach or attempt to approach him,” the outlet revealed, “and not to go to or be within 500m of the following royal estates: Sandringham Estate, Buckingham Palace, Balmoral Castle, Windsor Castle and Highgrove.”
Jenkinson’s due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on July 29, and Andrew’s expected to give evidence during the trial.
