What’s the state of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marriage? With the couple on the cusp of celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary on May 19, the question is getting a lot of attention once again. Are they doing okay? Are there cracks in their happiness?

According to RadarOnline, the two are, at this point, living “separate lives” and are husband and wife “in name only,” as Markle focuses on her social life while Prince Harry stays at home with their two kids.

“What I’m told is they’re pretty much now living separate lives. She has her friends, he has his friends, they are pretty much living… they don’t share anything in common,” Hollywood insider Rob Shuter said on Maureen Callahan’s The Nerve podcast.

“They don’t really have any common interests apart from the Sussex brand,” Shuter explained.

Markle and Prince Harry were recently seen on a tour of Australia, where they visited a children’s hospital and a veterans’ center. But the outlet insists that despite the couple trying to project the image of being a united front, they have very little in common these days.

“He’s Mr. Mom. He’s with the kids a lot,” Shuter said, explaining that the prince spends a lot of time with his kids, Archie and Lilibet.

“I’m told now that their interests were never aligned, but they tried to figure out things that they could do together,” he explained, pointing out their Netflix and Spotify deals. “And now that all those business projects have broken up, they have separate friends,” Shuter revealed, explaining that Harry doesn’t really have a social circle in the US. “He has no friends.”

The Hollywood insider even went on to add that they have very different outlooks on life. “So, Megan still has this burning ambition to be around rich people. She’ll jump on a plane if you’re rich enough. If you are famous enough, she’ll make an effort.” Harry, however, has grown up in those circles and isn’t interested.

“He’s given up. He doesn’t want to do this anymore. He’s a goddamn prince in his mind. And he does not think he should be jumping. People should be coming to him, not him going to them,” Shuter said. “And so I hear that this is now pretty much a marriage in name only.”

Reports about problems in the marriage have been around for basically the past eight years since the couple first married, so it’s fair to take them with a grain of salt. But these come after reports that even their friends are worried.

RadarOnline also reported a few weeks ago that, “People in their world are starting to have very real fears that the marriage will not survive,” and “The tension is getting worse all the time.”

The couple’s reps have denied any problems, but sources have pointed to what they say is an uneven partnership. “Meghan is very much the boss in the relationship. She controls almost every aspect of Harry’s life both personally and professionally,” said an insider. “And the way she’s bulldozing ahead with putting the kids on social media is a prime example of Meghan doing what she wants, whether Harry likes it or not.”

Will they make it? Or will their eighth anniversary be the last we see them celebrate?
