When we look back on the cast of Friends, part of us is convinced that they’re still just that, friends, and that they will remain so forever. But is that really the case, or has time and distance made the cast of the show that became famous for depicting friendship less close now?

According to RadarOnline, the latter might be true for Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow, at least. And it reportedly has to do with how much Kudrow has said in recent interviews about the cast’s residuals from the show, not to mention her role as Phoebe. And reportedly, Jennifer Aniston has been the most upset by the comments.

The outlet is saying Aniston was annoyed by Kudrow’s comments that she was seen as “the sixth Friend” and that “nobody cared” about her compared to her costars, disclosed in interview with The Independent published on April 4. It’s not about the reality of the comments themselves, which, even if true, cannot be put on Aniston, but on the fact that Kudrow is even sharing in the first place.

“Lisa has a history of saying way too much in interviews,” an insider said. “She usually doesn’t know where the line is, so no one believes that she’s doing this to intentionally upset anyone. But that doesn’t mean it hasn’t ruffled a lot of feathers.”

RadarOnline also says that Aniston and Cox are usually Kudrow’s biggest supporters, but they’re now unsure how to handle these last comments. “Jen was already pulling away from Lisa and by all accounts, this has only made her more convinced that getting some distance is the right move,” the source said. And that might even include not inviting Kudrow to her upcoming wedding.

“But it’s very frustrating, especially for Jen, who is so intensely private about everything including her finances, because it has always understood that those details were to be kept under lock and key,” the insider explained.

In an April 2026 interview with The Times, Kudrow said that she and the rest of the Friends cast earn around $20 million a year in residuals from the series. When questioned about the reason for the numbers being so high, she joked, “because Phoebe Buffay was so great?”

A source told RadarOnline that Kudrow doesn’t see the problem with her comments, “Lisa swears she meant no harm by her comments—merely pointing out that her castmates were seen as bigger stars,” the insider explained, “But the others, Jen especially, don’t see it that way. They’re not happy with Lisa for stirring up drama and pushing this self-pitying narrative that reflects poorly on the rest of them.”

Could that mean we won’t see Kudrow at Aniston’s upcoming wedding to hypnotherapist Jim Curtis? “Jennifer’s having a hard time narrowing down the guest list, but Lisa’s remarks have made it easier,” an insider told the outlet. “As of this moment, it’s highly unlikely she’ll make the cut.”

A rep for Aniston, however, denied RadarOnline‘s claims.

Rob Shuter had previously reported in his Naughty But Nice Substack that Kudrow’s former castmates were allegedly “absolutely furious” with her for talking money publicly. “The others were stunned Lisa said it out loud,” one insider told Shuter. “Nobody talks about the money. That has always been the unspoken rule.”

And reportedly, the rest of the cast is even concerned that it puts a target on their backs. “Once people hear that number, everything changes—security, expectations, lawsuits, pressure, even who starts asking for money,” sources added.

It seems like when money is involved, friendship can get complicated.
