Sometimes we get the weirdest celebrity feuds. When members of the same family, or exes are feuding, at least that makes sense. But sometimes there are feuds between people who don’t even move in the same circles, and those are a little harder to understand. Like, for example, the rumored feud between Anna Wintour and first lady Melania Trump.

But now, someone is attempting to make peace between the two. Will it work?

Rob Shuter is reporting that Lauren Sánchez is trying to get Wintour and Melania to see eye to eye and put an end to what the journalist describes as “long-simmering tension.” Why Sánchez? The answer is pretty simple: Bezos and his wife are the main donors for this year’s Met Gala, which means they’ve spent a fair bit of time recently with Wintour.

But Sánchez and Bezos have also been seen cozying up to President Trump and his family, so they are perhaps well-positioned to broker peace in this particular instance. After all, the first lady’s new documentary, Melania, premiered on Prime Video.

“Lauren is connecting very powerful dots,” one insider told Shuter. “She moves comfortably in both worlds — and she knows exactly who needs to be in the same room.”

“This is about access,” the source said. “It’s about staying welcome in every room that matters.”

But reportedly, the first lady isn’t budging. “She’s not interested in Vogue — or that entire orbit,” the insider explained, “That world just doesn’t carry the same weight for her anymore.”

Instead, the sources tell Shuter that the first lady has shifted focus completely. She’s not interested in the world Wintour occupies. “She’s not chasing approval from fashion insiders,” another source added. “She’s walked away from that game completely.”

That means she’s not playing ball with Sánchez’s attempts to bring her and Wintour together, presumably before the Met Gala. “Melania doesn’t feel the need to make peace,” the insider said. “From her perspective, there’s nothing to fix.”

“Lauren can try,” the source added. “But Melania has already moved on — and she’s not looking back.”

All of this comes after reports that Sánchez and Bezos are heavily involved in the upcoming Met Gala. According to Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop, the couple has “seized control” of the Met Gala. “They aren’t just donors,” a longtime Met insider shared. “Jeff is writing the checks. Lauren is making the calls. They’re basically running the Gala.”

Anna Wintour is still the chair of the gala, but sources insist Sánchez’s influence is strong. “Anna’s shadow is still long,” the insider says, “but make no mistake — everyone is suddenly orbiting Jeff and Lauren.”

Sánchez is reportedly “calling designers, pushing for a glossier, sexier Gala, and positioning herself as the new celebrity whisperer.”

In an interview with the New York Times, Wintour defended the choice of sponsors, saying that Sánchez “loves costumes” and “loves fashion,” referring to the Gala’s theme “Costume Art.”
