King Charles is in the middle of a state visit to the United States, and President Donald Trump has welcomed him with open arms. King Charles addressed Congress, toured the White House, and got a state dinner in his honor. And that dinner had some pretty big guests.
Business leaders, cabinet members, and Supreme Court justices attended the event, which kicked off the United States’ 250th birthday celebrations. Jeff Bezos and Tim Cook were among those present. Bezos, of course, attended with his new wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, whom he married in a lavish ceremony last year.

However, even before the state dinner, King Charles had a chance to talk to Bezos and some others. After his address to Congress, King Charles met with the Amazon founder, Apple CEO Tim Cook, President and CIO of Alphabet and Google Ruth Porat, and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, in the Lee Drawing Room at Blair House. All good signs of his relationship with these people, and perhaps of future deals in the UK.
Bezos’s wedding last year was big enough that some people expected to see some royalty present, particularly considering a lot of big celebrities attended, including the Kardashians, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Barack Obama. But no members of the royal family were present, though at the time there were reports that some might have wanted an invitation.
RadarOnline reported last year that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who have been living in the United States for the past few years and would have perhaps been the easiest members of the royal family to invite, didn’t get an invitation. And not just that, the outlet reports the snub left Markle “seething.”
This comes after Radar Online quoted a source as saying, “her podcast is one of the most-mocked in the world now on social media and she’s failed to rebrand herself as a philanthropist,” and added that for Prince Harry, “the shift from royal duties to a celebrity lifestyle has hit a dead end.”
“Meghan is reeling after not receiving an invitation to Bezos and Sánchez’s wedding as she considers herself more famous and important than guests such as the Kardashians,” the outlet said, adding that “it shows just how much she and Harry have drifted from Hollywood’s core social scene.”
The same outlet had previously reported Markle was “consumed with jealousy” over Sánchez, who has “everything” Markle wanted, including the “fantasy life.” Hollywood insider Rob Shuter also wrote on his Substack: “Lauren is everything Meghan thought she’d become. Instead, Meghan’s peddling preserves while Lauren’s draped in diamonds on the Cannes red carpet.”
Some had expected Harry and Meghan to be invited to the state dinner, or at least for King Charles to have put aside some time to see them and his grandkids during his time in the US. That hasn’t happened, and considering the security issues that have kept Harry from visiting the UK, the chances of Charles seeing Archie and Lilibet anytime soon are now slim to none.
