William Confesses He ‘Couldn’t Cope Without’ Kate After Giving an Update on Her Cancer
A little over a year has passed since Kate Middleton announced her cancer remission, and Prince William has now shared a rare update on her health.
On Friday, May 22, William gushed about Kate on the U.K. radio interview Heart Breakfast, emphasizing just how “proud” he is of her progress after cancer and praising her strength throughout the journey.
He spoke about Kate’s recovery, saying he was “so proud, very, very proud” of how far she’s come. “She’s been amazing. She’s been through so much in the last couple of years, particularly,” he said before mentioning her first official overseas visit since her cancer remission: a trip to see Reggio Emilia in Italy.
“She’d been looking forward to the Italian trip a lot. And so I’m really glad it went really well,” he added. “She wanted to go and do lots of research. She spends, God knows how much time now, looking through all the paperwork. She’s a proper pro on early years. Most evenings, I’m fighting to get past in the bedroom, what paperwork she’s got lined up, ready to read. So, I’m so pleased it went well for her, and yeah, I think she came back buzzing.”
William went on to say Kate’s an “amazing mum, an amazing wife, and, literally, our family couldn’t cope without her, so she’s been absolutely stunning, brilliant.”
Kate publicly disclosed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, and in January 2025, she confirmed she was in remission.
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain [focused] on recovery,” she wrote in a message posted to X on January 14. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
