Andrew Investigated for Sexual Misconduct Amid Reports He’s Viewing Eugenie’s Baby as His ‘Ticket Back into the Royal Fold’
The ongoing investigation involving disgraced former Prince Andrew is reportedly also looking into allegations of sexual misconduct.
On Friday, May 22, the Thames Valley Police—the force leading Andrew’s investigation—issued an update on the case. Although their statement didn’t explicitly mention Andrew by name, in line with U.K. protocol, the details provided made it clear he was the individual involved.
“In addition to the investigation into misconduct in public office, the assessment of reports that a woman was taken to an address in Windsor in 2010 for sexual purposes is ongoing,” authorities said in a statement.
They continued, “We have engaged with the woman’s legal representative to confirm that, should she wish to report this to police, it will be taken seriously and handled with care, sensitivity and respect for her privacy and her right for anonymity. We recognise how difficult it can be to speak about experiences of this nature, and any contact with police will be led by her wishes, when and if she feels ready and able to do so.”
Andrew was arrested in February 2026 on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The arrest came after an investigation into allegations that he shared confidential information with his close friend, the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has repeatedly denied these claims.
His longstanding relationship with Epstein has faced intense scrutiny for years, with multiple women alleging that Epstein arranged for them to go to the U.K. to sleep with the ex-prince.
Andrew has since been stripped of his royal titles and official duties and was also forced to leave the Royal Lodge. Still, he and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, reportedly believe that their daughter Princess Eugenie‘s, third child could potentially pave the way for a royal return.
“Andrew and Sarah are looking at Eugenie’s pregnancy as far more than simply another happy family milestone,” a source told RadarOnline in May 2026. “They see it as a rare opportunity to slowly reintegrate themselves into the wider royal fold through private family occasions, christenings, birthday celebrations, and gatherings centered around the children. In their minds, the arrival of another grandchild creates a warmer and more emotionally sympathetic narrative around the York family at a time when they desperately need one.”
The source noted that Andrew and Fergie believe that “public affection for royal babies and young children naturally softens attitudes,” and could possibly be their “ticket back into the royal fold.”
“They are quietly hoping that increased family contact could eventually help normalize their presence around senior royals again,” they added.
However, another insider claimed that many within royal circles think Andrew and Fergie are “totally delusional” for believing that a new baby “somehow changes the institutional damage that has already been done.”
“The Palace has spent years trying to create distance between the monarchy and the fallout surrounding Andrew,” the insider said. “That situation has not magically disappeared because there is another royal grandchild on the way.”
